Built for the Spirit of Rally Raid
Rally raid is one of the ultimate tests of off-road performance. Speed alone isn't enough. A successful rally raid vehicle must combine suspension performance, ground clearance, drivetrain durability, stability, recovery capability, and the ability to adapt as the terrain changes beneath it.
The HobbyPlus DKR-4 FORTIS brings that same philosophy to RC.
Designed as a highly detailed 1/18-scale 4WD Rally Raid Truck, the DKR-4 blends authentic scale styling with a purpose-built off-road chassis engineered to be driven across dirt, gravel, sand, trails, and rough terrain.
This isn't simply a scale body sitting on a conventional RC platform. From its portal axles and long-travel suspension to its functional recovery winch, 2-speed transmission, twin spare tires, accessible rear equipment bay, and detailed rally bodywork, the FORTIS was developed to capture both the look and function of a full-size rally raid machine.
Purpose-Built Rally Raid Chassis
Underneath the detailed body is a capable 4WD chassis designed for mixed-terrain driving.
The DKR-4 features long-travel suspension paired with completely sealed front and rear solid portal axles. The portal design provides additional ground clearance for uneven terrain while retaining the solid-axle architecture expected from a rugged scale off-road truck.
Factory-installed front and rear anti-roll bars help control chassis movement and body roll, particularly when transitioning from slower technical terrain into faster rally-style driving.
The result is a platform designed to balance articulation, stability, ground clearance, and higher-speed control.
Available in Brushed & Brushless Versions
The HobbyPlus DKR-4 FORTIS is available in both Brushed RTR and Brushless RTR (BLS) versions.
Brushed RTR
A straightforward setup that retains the full DKR-4 rally platform and scale features.

Brushless RTR (BLS)
Features a HobbyPlus / Hobbywing brushless system with:
- 2435 3500KV 4-pole sensorless in-runner motor
- MINI24 sensorless ESC with FOC
- 2S–3S LiPo support
- Water-resistant ESC
Heavy-Duty Metal Drivetrain
A capable rally raid truck needs a drivetrain built for more than shelf duty.
The DKR-4 incorporates heavy-duty metal components throughout critical areas of the drivetrain, including:
- Metal ring gears
- Metal pinion gears
- Metal transmission gears
- HD metal axles
- HD metal outdrives
- HD metal driveshafts
These components provide the durability needed for regular trail running and mixed-terrain driving while adding mechanical substance beneath the truck's scale exterior.
Remote-Operated 2-Speed Transmission
- One of the defining features of the DKR-4 is its remote-operated 2-speed transmission with neutral.
- Rather than limiting the truck to one fixed driving characteristic, the 2-speed gearbox expands its usable performance range.
- Use the appropriate range when negotiating slower, more technical terrain, then shift when the trail opens up and additional wheel speed is desired.
- The system helps give the FORTIS the versatility to transition between scale trail driving and faster rally-inspired running without sacrificing the mechanical character of the platform.
Long-Travel Suspension with Front & Rear Anti-Roll Bars
- Rally raid terrain rarely stays consistent.
- The DKR-4's long-travel suspension is designed to keep the chassis working as the truck moves across uneven dirt, gravel, rocks, and broken terrain.
- To complement the suspension system, HobbyPlus equips both the front and rear axles with factory-installed anti-roll bars.
- This combination allows the chassis to maintain suspension movement while providing additional roll control during more aggressive driving.
- The front and rear anti-roll bar system is preinstalled from the factory.
68mm Rally-Inspired Tires
- The FORTIS receives a newly developed rally-inspired tire package designed specifically around the character of the truck.
- Each corner is equipped with a 68mm rally-pattern tire paired with a 1.3-inch beadlock-style wheel, providing an aggressive rally raid appearance while giving the truck an all-terrain footprint suitable for a variety of surfaces.
- The tread design complements the DKR-4's mixed-terrain mission, whether running across packed dirt, gravel, trail surfaces, or a backyard rally course.
Rally Raid Equipment & Trail Capability
What equipment makes it a rally raid/trail vehicle?
Two Full-Size Functional Spare Tires
- Authentic rally raid trucks need to be prepared for the unexpected, and HobbyPlus carries that detail over to the FORTIS.
- Mounted at the rear of the truck are two full-size spare tires.
- They're not simply molded scale accessories—they are functional, full-size tires that match the truck's rally-inspired wheel and tire setup.
- The twin-spare layout also gives the FORTIS its unmistakable long-distance rally raid profile.
Functional Front Recovery Winch
- When the trail wins, the DKR-4 comes prepared.
- A functional front recovery winch is installed from the factory, providing another level of scale realism while adding genuine trail functionality.
- Whether used as part of a scale recovery scenario or to help extract the truck from difficult terrain, the winch fits naturally into the FORTIS' expedition and rally raid character.
Scale Body & Functional Design
What makes the body and scale construction special?
Highly Detailed ABS Hard Body
- The DKR-4's mechanical platform is matched by an exceptionally detailed molded ABS hard body.
- Rather than relying on a conventional lightweight polycarbonate shell, the hard body gives the FORTIS the visual presence and body structure expected from a true scale RC truck.
- The body features painted and printed rally graphics along with a detailed driver's cockpit and numerous functional scale elements.
- The result is a truck that looks convincing from a distance but becomes even more impressive as you start examining the details up close.
Quick-Access Tilting Cab
- Scale detail doesn't have to make maintenance difficult.
- The DKR-4 features a functional quick-access cab design, allowing the front cab section to tilt forward for improved access to the chassis and internal components.
- It adds another full-scale-inspired feature while making routine access significantly more convenient.
Gullwing Rear Equipment Bay
- At the rear, the rally body incorporates functional gullwing-style access doors.
- Opening the body panels reveals a fully accessible rear equipment area and the structural framework underneath.
- The system combines scale functionality with convenient chassis access while giving the truck the appearance of a purpose-built long-distance competition machine.
Full Rear Structural Framework
- Underneath the rear bodywork is a complete structural support system designed to add both realism and strength.
- Rather than hiding the chassis beneath a simple shell, the DKR-4 exposes the mechanical structure, electronics, spare tire arrangement, and support framework when the rear body panels are opened.
- It's the type of detail that makes the FORTIS as interesting to inspect on the workbench as it is to drive on the trail.
Functional Air Intake
- The scale detailing continues with a functional air intake integrated into the cab area, adding another element inspired by full-size competition trucks.
- Combined with the light bar, mirrors, front protection, detailed body panels, equipment bay, and rear framework, the FORTIS delivers an unusually complete scale presentation for a 1/18 platform.
Electronics, Lighting & Control
How are the truck's functions controlled?
Full LED Lighting System
The DKR-4 comes equipped with a complete LED lighting package from the factory.
The system includes the truck's primary scale lighting along with:
- Roof-mounted lighting
- Front lighting
- Integrated scale lighting
- Factory-installed rock lights
The rock lights add both visual realism and useful illumination around the chassis during low-light trail driving.
FlySky 6-Channel Radio System
- With features such as a 2-speed transmission and functional accessories requiring additional channel control, the FORTIS comes equipped with a FlySky 6-channel radio system.
- The multi-channel system gives the driver control over the truck's expanded functions while keeping the vehicle RTR-focused and easy to operate.
Built to Drive. Detailed Enough to Display.
Scale RC vehicles often force enthusiasts to choose between two directions:
A highly detailed truck that looks great but sacrifices capability—
or a high-performance chassis that loses much of the realism of the vehicle it's trying to represent.
The DKR-4 FORTIS takes a different approach.
Portal axles, long-travel suspension, anti-roll bars, metal drivetrain components, a 2-speed gearbox, functional recovery equipment, and a capable 4WD chassis give it the hardware needed to explore.
At the same time, the ABS hard body, detailed cockpit, functional rear bodywork, twin spare tires, lighting system, tilting cab, rear framework, and rally-inspired detailing create the visual presence expected from a premium scale RC truck.
Whether you're building a backyard rally stage, exploring local trails, running across gravel and dirt, or simply adding something different to your scale RC collection, the FORTIS brings a distinctive new experience to the 1/18 category.
